Our impact
Driving change for people living in Australia and the sectors that support them.

Leading a new era
iLA is not just responding to change in the aged care and disability sectors, we’re driving it with digital innovation, evidence-based resources, and sector-leading research.
As one of only three non-government organisations included in the federal government’s Aged Care Data and Digital Strategy: Opens in new window, iLA is recognised as a leader in developing scalable, forward-thinking solutions that promote independence.
Our services such as LiveUp, Keep Able, and AT Chat challenge outdated perceptions of ageing and disability, while supporting people to make informed choices about their health and wellbeing.

Our focus
We focus our research efforts where data is scarce and new approaches are needed, ensuring our work fills critical gaps and has the biggest impact.
We maintain strong connections with both the community and the sector through ongoing research, industry publications, events, and long-term partnerships. This approach ensures our resources remain relevant, evidence-informed, and practical within an evolving system.

Innovation
We’ve developed and tested a suite of emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) to explore new, practical solutions for the sector’s most pressing challenges.
These nationally funded pilot projects were evaluated by the University of Newcastle: Opens in new window and demonstrate the real-world potential of next generation tools to:
- Create care plans in minutes, not hours
- Build workforce capability through immersive training
- Empower older people to make confident, informed decisions about assistive technology in their own homes
Our approach is grounded in co design, living labs testing, and alignment with sector priorities. These pilots are part of our broader commitment to rethink ageing, supporting reablement, and helping people live well.

Reconciliation Action Plan
iLA is committed to fostering meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by building connections and implementing initiatives to help staff understand and engage with Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander culture, and history.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects our dedication to recognising the cultures and contributions of First Nations peoples and communities, while actively working towards reconciliation.
